Hi, I’m Javi Rolling
I’m a professional tattoo artist with over 13 years of experience, based in Stavanger, Rogaland. With a background in illustration and visual storytelling, I create personal tattoos with a focus on meaning and expression.
I work mainly with blackwork and artistic tattoos—ranging from traditional to more modern and experimental styles. Precision, detail, a calm approach, and genuine dialogue with every client are a natural part of my process.
Every tattoo is created with respect—for the idea, the craft, and the person wearing it.

Process
Many people come in with ideas that need a bit of direction. Not everything works equally well as a tattoo—and that’s completely fine. My job is to translate your thoughts, references, and feelings into a design that works on skin and holds up over time.
I work closely with my clients, give honest advice, and suggest solutions that balance expression, technique, and longevity. Precision, calm, and details are always at the core.
The result is thoughtful tattoos, created with respect for both the idea and the craft.

Style & expression
Visual languages in service of every story
I work with different visual styles, but always with the same intention: to give ideas shape, direction, and meaning. It’s not just about style—it’s about translating stories into tattoos that work on skin and last over time.

Narrative Illustration & Realism
Visual storytelling and symbolism through portraits, botanical motifs, figurative elements, or fantasy creatures with their own identity. Clean work, with a strong focus on details and finish.
I also use techniques like watercolor, sketch, or graphic design when a project calls for it—so the style fits the final result.

Abstract Blackwork
Expressive tattoos built from brush strokes, ink, textures, and dark shapes. I work with brush, splatter, abstract lettering, stencil, organic and geometric patterns, and ornamental elements that flow naturally with the body.
Abstraction, contrast, and movement are central—always adapted organically to the anatomy.

Anime, Comic & Pop Culture
A dynamic, energetic style inspired by comics, anime, video games, and graffiti—with a touch of cartoon flair. Bold characters and graphic concepts built with strong contrast, varied line weight, and confident color.
It can also be done in black and grey with a clean, solid finish. When needed, I’ll use watercolor, sketch, or graphic design to match the project’s final look.

Fine Line & Minimal
Small, minimal tattoos like text, dates, symbols, and subtle details. A style that looks simple—but is technically demanding.
There’s no room for mistakes. It requires full control of technique, a clear sense of what sizes work on skin, and precision in every line and every space—with the same care and respect as larger pieces.
Client feedback
Real experiences from people who trusted the process and the craft.

“Javi created my first tattoo based on my own ideas. It was a really good experience, in a calm and safe environment. The result is full of beautiful details—something only an experienced artist can deliver.
The letters mean ‘Laugh, Live and Love’, and they have great personal value to me.”

“I got my first tattoo with Javi, and the result is a very personal and meaningful piece. He created a custom design that reminds me of my parents, with great attention to detail and process.
That’s why I’m now back for my second tattoo, with the same trust and enthusiasm.”
